The in-house laboratory at Scottsboro Pet Care provides pet owners with an expedited diagnosing process for their companion pets. We can process blood test results on site, typically within a matter of minutes. This is especially beneficial for critical illness and injury cases that need prompt diagnosis and treatment.
Some health conditions may not be obvious during an external examination. For this reason, we conduct in-house diagnostic tests to get an accurate picture of your pet’s overall health. At Scottsboro Pet Care, we recommend regular diagnostic testing so that our veterinarians will have baseline information about your pet. Having a history of test results lets us know if there is a significant change that indicates an underlying condition or disease.
Our in-house diagnostic analyzers enable us to conduct blood chemistries and blood smears. We test for heartworms and tick borne diseases, and we conduct fecal analyses and urinalysis, as well as thyroid tests. Results from diagnostic testing can detect infection and anemia, determine electrolyte status and hydration levels, evaluate kidney, liver, and pancreas function, screen for thyroid disease, check blood sugar levels, and more.
We conduct our annual wellness diagnostic tests in house, and we perform blood tests prior to each surgery to screen our patients for any abnormalities or conditions that may be problematic.
